In Autoportret we talk about space as culture. We deal with the relationship between architecture and power, the anthropology of space, the social aspects of building, materiality and climate catastrophe. By analysing space, we participate in a conversation about the state of the world and the human condition.
Autoportret has been published quarterly since 2002 and is interdisciplinary in nature. The issues are themed and the topics are linked by spatial features, with space understood literally – physically, but also metaphorically. We look for meanings that are captured in architecture and urban planning and ask what they can say about us.
In a world off-balance, we search for signs of change, for tools – including architectural tools – to limit the catastrophic impact of humans on the planet, for a new hope.
